In October of 2015 I got my first motorcycle. Â It’s something I have wanted for a long time. When I was younger I wanted a Harley. Â Nothing huge, just a Spring Soft tail. Â I didn’t grow up riding motorcycles. Â I actually had only been on one once before when my friends step brother left a little motorbike at his dad’s house for a summer. Â We crashed around on that a few times and it was fun. Â It wasn’t really a family sport so I did get back on one for the next 30 years.
In the meantime IÂ got into Land Cruisers (chronicled here) and camping. Â This has been a good family past time. Â We have had 4 different models. Â I also build an off-road camping trailer. Â We have towed this all around the NW. Â It makes a great base camp for exploring. Â One of these trips took us to my first NW Overland Rally. Â This is where I was reconnected with motorcycles. Â The Overland Rally has combined with the Touratech Rally. Â It’s a great weekend with vendors, classes and comradery. Â My interest changed from cruisers to dual sports.
I look forward to traveling the Northwest on two wheels. Â There are so many on and off road opportunities around here. Â I’m not giving up the Land Cruisers. Â We still have the ’72 FJ 55 to finish this summer for my son.
